For those who work in Switzerland

Cross-border workers in Switzerland: your pension starts here.

Those who work in Ticino pay contributions to AVS and to the Swiss pension fund, even if they live in Italy. Those contributions will become an important part of your pension, but they are rarely discussed clearly. We help you understand what you are building, what is missing and how to complete the picture.

Two countries, one plan.

Swiss pension provision, Italian pension and personal savings, put in the same picture.

01 · AVS and pension fund

What you already pay in today, and what it becomes.
What it is, how it works, who it is for
What is it?By working in Switzerland you are insured with the AVS (first pillar) and, above a certain salary threshold, with the pension fund (second pillar). These are compulsory contributions, paid in part by the employer.
How does it work?Together we read your payslip and pension certificate: how much you accumulate each year, what pension you can expect and where there are gaps, for example for periods of work in Italy or in other countries.
Who is it for?For those who have worked in Switzerland for a short time or for years and have never looked at what they are accumulating.

02 · Third pillar for cross-border workers

Extra savings, to be assessed with your tax situation.
What it is, how it works, who it is for
What is it?Even those who work in Switzerland and live in Italy can open a 3a account or plan. The tax benefit, however, depends on your taxation situation, for example on the start date of the activity and on residence, and must be checked before deciding.
How does it work?We assess with you whether 3a makes sense, how much to pay in and with which instrument, account or funds, also considering what happens to the capital when you retire or leave Switzerland. For the tax aspects in Italy we recommend that you also consult your accountant.
Who is it for?For those who have room to save and want a more solid pension.

03 · If you change job or stop

What happens to your second pillar.
What it is, how it works, who it is for
What is it?When you leave an employer in Switzerland, the pension fund capital passes to the new one or stays in a vested benefits account. It is your money, and it is worth knowing in advance where it is and which rules apply to a possible withdrawal.
How does it work?We take stock of your pension assets, including those from former employers, and assess the options available in your case.
Who is it for?For those who have changed several employers or are thinking about a future outside Switzerland.

04 · The complete picture

Swiss pension, Italian pension, your own savings.
What it is, how it works, who it is for
What is it?Those who work in Switzerland and live in Italy build up rights in two systems. The years paid in each country count, and contribution periods can be added together to reach the minimum requirements.
How does it work?We put together the pension estimates and the income you would like in retirement, and identify how much is missing and how to fill it: with the third pillar, with voluntary payments into the pension fund or with a savings plan.
Who is it for?For those who want a clear view, at 25, at 40 or at 50.
